I try to give thanks everyday for my loved ones, my life and the things that are important to me. Do I succeed 100% of the time? Absolutely not but on a scale of 1 to 10, I’d rate myself a 9. November, however, is the month that we are reminded to be grateful thanks to Thanksgiving. So I’d like to take a few minutes to talk about some of the things I’m grateful for.
I’m grateful for:
My loved ones: For those who have passed before me and those still in my life, I’m grateful for their presence in my life, what I learned from them and they lessons they have taught me that I can pass down through the generations.
My life: I love my life. Though I’ve had my ups and downs, I consider every positive experience a gift and every not-to-positive experience, an opportunity to learn and grow. There is no guarantee of a tomorrow so I’m grateful for my today.
A roof over my head:I can’t event imagine what it’s like to have to live on the street and be subject to the heat, cold, wind, rain, hurricanes, flooding, etc. I pray for everyone to have a roof over their heads.
Food in my kitchen: I’m so thankful that I don’t wake up in the morning or go to bed hungry at night and I wish the same for everyone on this earth.
Sentimental possessions: I’d like to say that no one will ever be able to take my memories away. However watching a parent suffer with Alzheimers and losing parts of their memory made me realize how important it is to have some sentimental possessions. There is nothing like holding a loved one’s treasured item in my hands, feeling it, smelling it, simply touching it.
Opportunities to Serve those less fortunate: I love giving back to those around me. I’m currently the Chair of the NAPOCares Committee, the social responsibility arm of NAPO (National Association of Productivity & Organzing professionals). Our mission is to let the world know that #NAPOCares and how NAPO members share their time, treasures and talents with their community. Whether it’s organizing- or employment-related, I love sharing all I have and all I know with my community.
My question is this…what are YOU grateful for each and every day?
